The Confraternita della Santa Croce (brotherhood of the Sacred Cross) or Battuti Bianchi started their activity in the thirteenth century, offering help and support to the sick. The Church benefitted from donations from the nobility of the era, thus enriching its decor with valuable paintings, wooden statues and precious sacred ornaments. Behind the main altar there is a fine painting of the crucifixion by the Flemish artist Jean Claret.
In 2009 the flooring, part of the decoration and the entrance were completely restored. This little church is easy to heat and so is used as the winter chapel.
